Your doctor should have TOLD you to stop smoking. I
just lost a sister-in-law last December. She was only
38 years old and smoked all her adult life. She left
a 23 year old son and an 11 year old daughter -
I've heard of a lot of people that won't stop smoking,
then they loose their fingers, hands, arms. . .Then
they stop smoking!
My sister-in-law lost her toes, 1/2 a foot, then to
the ankle, then to the knee, then the other toes on
the other leg, then the other foot, then up to her
other knee. . .she never stopped smoking. . She would
sneak out of the hospital room in a wheelchair and
smoke in the waiting area outside! She soon had other
issues - a mass in her belly that was the size of a
LARGE grapefruit. It was filled with the gangreen
that took her legs.
She watched her mom die of the same disease and her
mom told her about her grandma dying of the same
disease.
STOP SMOKING - there is NO CURE. My sister-in-law was
in an experimental program since she was the 3rd
generation with the disease. It usually targets
males. . .None of the family will let my niece
remotely near any "stray smoke". She is very angry
that her mother thought more of cigarettes than she
did of her. My niece will NEVER smoke.
The nicotine is what excellerates the disease, so the
patch and nicotine gum will not help you. You need to
stop cold turkey! I've known of people who have and
the pain goes away after 6 months to a year and they
never hear from the disease again.
That is the best advise I can give you. GOOD LUCK!
