My husband was diagnosed with Buerger's just over
a year ago. He was lucky in the fact that it only
was in his hands and not his feet. He first thought
he had Reynauds since that usually attacks the
hands. After lots of tests the Dr.'s were sure it was
Buergers. He was told to stop smoking. Keep in mind he had
smoked for over 40 years!!!!!!!!! The Dr. told him he
would lose his fingers if he kept smoking. My husband
is a computer professional and makes his living with
his fingers. Much to my shock he QUIT. It has been
almost a year and his fingers are getting so much
better!!!!!!! Not much pain anymore UNLESS he gets into
freezer. Cold weather makes them hurt. They don't crack
around the nails anymore. They don't turn all the colors
of the rainbow anymore. We have been blessed that he
was strong enough to stop before he lost fingers. We
have a friend that didn't stop and is now walking
around on fewer than 10 toes. Please stop!!!!!
