Hi Kathy i to have thought to ask the very questions that you did. I
am a female whom was diagnosed last october 2003. For me it started
in May 2003. The arches of my feet started aching. Thaought maybe it
was the new flip flops I was wearing. lol. anyway first visit to the
docs told me to get dr scholls inserts for my shoes well that didnt
work then the pain got a little worse and was waking me up at night
about every half hour and I mean pain. Of course when I would get up
the first thing I would do is grab a cig and go outside to walk it
off. dumb ass. anyway this went on for about 4 months and then the
tips of all my fingertips started looking like little blood blisters.
Dr. just asked me what the hell I had been doing. I llive in a rural
community and do alot, alot, alot, of outside side work . I knew I
hadnt smashed a finger or anything and I couldnt explain it.
meanwhile my feet were killing me. by the way I smoked marlboro king
regular at the time. about 1-1 1/2 packs a day. Anyway the dr. had
scheduled a sonogram or something of my arterys and I just couldnt lay
still for longer than 5 minutes no joke and when I just had to get up
during this test my REAL DR> came in, I was seeing his assistant all
these other times, and he grabbed my foot and said off the top of his
hat she has raynauds. He put me in the hospital for observation for
he thought maybe clots because of my fingers. well I was in there for
2 days and nothing. so another Dr. of mine suggested I to go to
another hospital and see a vascular surgeon and 2 days later after the
anteriorgram he came back with buergers. Yes I have worn acrylic
fingernails for years and switched to glue on ones for about the last
2 years. I always wonder about that. I have since that day not put a
fake one on. Another thing the same week that I came down with the
sore feet I had just sprayed my new truck with scotchguard to protect
the carpeting you know and went through about 1 can. I always
wondered about that to. As for other chemicals I do alot of house work
so all those chemicals and I paint the house with acrylic paint, water
cleanup. I had also been in the throes in making stepping stones for
a garden We were doing and I am talking about 50 stones 16 in square.
So I was around alot of cement. That includes me mixing and pouring
it. So as of November of 2003 I have been on PLAVIX and 1 baby asprin
and 1 400mcg of folic acid and I have not had a bout or symtom
since.And yes as such a ass I am still smokuing. yes I know that is
the first thing i was told to do and yes I have tried tried tried but
i always fail. The only difference is I smoke menthol now and only
about 10 per day and less when my husband is around. I am such a fool
i know i do read the posts here and most people got put on coumidan
and I on the plavix do you know the difference? well if I can answer
any more questions that you have feel free to email me anytime. I
have had NO surgries. The only lasting effects is and right big
toenail that takes forever to grow and a disfigured right index finger
which I attributed to the fake nails almost 2 years ago so this went
on in me for quite awhile before I noticed it either.
