No, I personally don't know of any research available. From the brief
information that I have found the disease is caused by a particular chemical
in cigarettes. My father has been diagnosed for two years and he can't
seem to stop smoking either. I don't know what it is. I'm sure that trying
to stop smoking is as difficult as trying to keep of those unwanted pounds,
but I would think after loosing parts of your body that it would be enough
to stop. My father also smokes marijuana. He said it helps him to deal
with the pain. Thus far, his situation has not progressed or gotten worse.
The only thing I can do is to pray for him and to continue to offer my
support. I wish you the best of luck with your friend. God Bless!! Karen
