Hi, I am new to the group. I was just discharged from the hospital
in Washington, DC with a diagnosis of Buerger's Disease. I have had
two by-pass surgeries in my left leg and two toes amputated. I have
not worked in over a year because of constant pain in my foot. I am
fighting right now to save my foot.
I am a 49 year old male who has smoked for about 30 years. I had no
idea that smoking would cause this terrible disease. I have now quit
smoking.
I had never heard of this disease, and I don't think many of my
doctors have either. I really belive I've had Beurgers Disease for
several years but it was undiagnosed.
This Group has been wonderful in helping me understand and learn about
the disease. I see I am not alone, even though it is a rare disease.
Your messages have been wondeful in helping me cope with this disease.
Living alone, it is difficult dealing with all this, and the support
provided by this group is very helpful. Thank you for sharing
information about yourselves and about treatment.
