While in Vietnam, 66-67, I developed a sore on my left index finger.
I was treated but nothing helped. I began to have lots of pain in my
left foot.
I returned to the States and developed gangrene in my hands and feet.
I worked for only a month or so while stationed @ Sewart AFB, TN. I
entered the base hospital and no one had a clue what was wrong!!!!
I was airevact to Scott AFB, Ill. While there, after 10 months of
having one toe amputated and two others cut up so bad they were later
amputated by the VA(Only after years of pain). The USAF retired me as
Sgt, E-4 in December 1967. Then I entererd the wonderfull VA
enviroment in 1968. The VA finally amputated the two toes just to
later cut off the remaining 6 toes, one @ a time!!! Go figure!!!
I was told I had Buergers Disease, Go figure! I spent months in fox
holes, machine gun bunkers, other #@%^^#$ stuff. My hands and feet
were always exposed to the wonderfull A/O enviroment. How about
jungle rot or A/O? I was told of my type 11 Diabetes was linked to
A/O exposure in-country RSVN AND GRANTED 20% DISABILITY in 1999!! Too
litle and too late). The VA noted in my medical records I was
diabetic in 1995 but did not tell me. A private doctor diagnoised me
in 1999 and the VA admitted I was type 11 diabetic possible A/O
exposure.
I have been retired from the USAF since 1967, many, many, many years
of #$##$$##$ from the VA, loss of a total of 8 toes(one toe on each
foot remain)(That's all I need to walk, sorta). I have never met
ANYONE with Buergers/Raynaud's that served in-country RSVN.
I hope none of you out there in LALA land have this stuff but if so,
please let me know. I also have Factor V Leiden and some other
goodies.
Good Health and Happiness to ALL.
