Please forgive me for posting yet again but I just have to say that I am very emotional right now and want to share it with all of you.
My father is 77 years old and is overweight and has diabetes and arthritis. He overheard me talking the other evening about how not many people were participating in this walk and he started asking questions about it. He had said he would sponsor my husband and I and he has been my number one fan and supporter since the first time I started to research having surgery. My dad carries my picture in his wallet and shows it to everyone and is so proud of the weight I've lost and he thinks Dr. Roe is a fabulous surgeon (don't know where he got that idea from).
So my emotions come from this - my dad just called me and told me to sign him up for the walk if he could use a cane or a walker. He said that he thinks Dr. Roe and staff deserve the recognition and
he wants us to be the number one team and he wants to walk with my husband and I to show how proud he is of us and to support us. He went to the senior citizen center he belongs to this morning and walked a quarter of a mile on the treadmill and is going back on Wednesday to try to increase that to make sure he can walk a mile. His name is now on the Baltimore Bariatrics team (George Wills, Sr). I am SO proud of him!
Thanks for allowing me to share that.
Kathy
