Dont know whether its herediaty or not, my son is fine with them, no
problems at all.
By the way, cant stand balloons either, but I know why cos someone
popped one behind me when I was three and it left a lasting
inpression.
As for buttons, well my mum tells me I used to play with her button
box for hours on end at a young age URGHHHHH cant remember this at
all, so no idea why I cant stand to look at them now, maybe I had too
much exposure haha
