I don't think buttons smell. They are after all just pieces of
plastic. Any odour should truly be of the chemical process used
in the production of the plastic. But one hell of a sensitive
nose would be required to detect that! I understand though how
people can perceive they smell of a repulsive odour. I consider
my phobia of buttons extreme. I just don't like them & hate
wearing
anything with buttons on it. But it has led me ever since a child,
to love wearing Sportswear. Sportswear has a bias to use zips
instead of buttons. Apart from Polo's that is. Consequently,
I'm often seen as a bit nerdy. When attending our company
Christmas do, Dressed in my favourite button-less Tracksuit attire.
I was asked, "Why don't I wear a Shirt?" –
"I like my 80's Sportswear", was my reply.
Why is wearing something with buttons on it such a compulsory thing?
I would not go to the Christmas do if a Shirt was compulsory and I
have not for every company event taking place in my own time.
OK, while I'm at work, my employer can dictate what I look like.
But 1 second outside this time, anything with buttons on it is
wrenched off in immediate favour of something without.
