Hi all, I'm new here, I'm from the US (I notice most of you are from
the UK). I can't tell if this group is still active but I'll
introduce myself anyway :)

I'm 23/f and I've hated buttons for as long as I can remember. I was
forced to wear them the one year that I attended private school (4th
grade) but I know I hated them before that too.

I've gotten a lot better - I can now wear certain buttons with no
problems at all, but others make me feel like I'm literally going to
throw up. Generally I handle large ones better than small ones.

I don't know why certain ones don't bother me, but it seems like
most people here are the same way. I haaaaaate the tortoiseshell
ones (EWWW!!) and the small clear ones on polo shirts. YUCK.

Also, I have a severe, severe, severe hatred of snaps. I'm curious
to know if there is anyone else here who feels the same way. My
absolute nightmare is when I go to get my hair cut and they put that
smock over you that snaps up the back and I can feel them on my neck
and I know my hair is touching them....EWWWWW. Sometimes I literally
gag and the hairdresser asks me what is wrong.

I've never told anyone about this except my dad when I was little
and my fiance two days ago (right before I did internet research and
found this group!!). My dad taunted me about it when I was little,
and my fiance was wearing a polo the day I admitted it...and he
tried to rub the buttons on my face. I smacked him, and I think now
he understands that I'm serious haha.

I hope people are still posting here :)
~Lisa
