As a grown button phobe, I can tell you that there was nothing my mom could do to cure me. She tried crafts project and my grandmother even tried knitting me a sweater with pewter bear heads in place of buttons but I saw right through it all! If something was important enough to me I could suffer through it (like my sports uniforms). You do learn eventually to block them out to a certain degree. It helps not to actually have to touch them or have them against your skin in any way - like cuff buttons. If they are out of view that is even better. Is there someway you can hide the buttons on your son's suit?

Subject: [b_phobia] Your button Phobia reasons
HI All,
As a mum of a 10 year old who has hated buttons since he was 5 years. I was just wondering why you have your phobia, Charlie tells me that buttons have faces on and they look at you, but I feel the real reason is as he spent a little while in hosptial having some operations, the fear has come from the Drs wanting to look at him all the time, and quite close up, some are in white coats and some in suits,, oh he had open heart surgery as a baby and needs regular check-ups.;. other than that I don't know why, espcially as he used to play with them when little.
Love
Debbie
