Organic Farms Make Healthy Plants Make Healthy People

Organic foods are richer in minerals and vitamins and
relatively free from harmful chemicals and additives.
Dr. Eva Novotny

The importance of good food and good soil – a page from
history People in the industrialised Western world rely
increasingly on ready-prepared meals and packaged foods.
For increased shelf life, some of the ingredients will have
been refined, with the most nutritionally valuable
components (such as the germ and bran of grains) discarded,
and extra chemicals added as preservative or as flavouring
or colour. At the same time, there is rising incidence of
heart disease, cancers, diabetes, allergies and other
disorders. Could there be a connection between diet and
disease?

The British doctor Sir Robert McCarrison had asked this
question 80 years ago while working in India, and his
experience was described in a book by GT Wrench first
published in 1938, and reprinted twice since [1].
McCarrison was struck by the marvellous health of certain
native peoples, especially those living in Hunza, and
wondered why that was the case. (A disheartening footnote
must be added to the story of the people of Hunza. Already
in the 1930s, with increased exposure to Western ways, their
remarkable health had begun to decline. ) The natives
enjoyed freedom from disease and life-long vitality despite
their exceptional longevity. Their healthy mental state was
reflected in their freedom from quarrelling and exceptional
cheerfulness.

Hello Rick

1. Don't take ashwagnadha all the time (specially in summers) as
ashwagandha is hot. It would be better if you would take it during
winters, as this kind of diet supplements can be easily digested by
our body an the heat part of it would be beneficial for you during
winters.
2. Taking Tiphla on daily basis is not harmful, as it is Tri-dosh

Hello dilrajnagi,

As regarding your nabhi shifted problem, as Dr. Bhate suggested the simple
experiments is very useful (that is called RECH in villagers Language.
   One more excersise I, is
first check your nabhi , by inserting fingers in nabhi whether it is upward or
downward. gently massage with warm oil on nabhi and surrounded part.
then lay down on mat , straigt your legs ,
fold your left leg from Knee & press , massgage from Knee to leg fingers .
apply the same thing for the right leg. then staright the both leg and Pull
both leg thumb and pull middele finger.
   Again fold both the legs.

Check the nabhi position. You can do daily till ur nabhi gets at proper
position (center of nabhi, if that is at proper position, your fingers feel
pulses).

As this experiment is easy, but I also recommend some medicine such as
   1. Hingawastak churn (u can take with warm water/ eat like pickle with meal)
take
        with meal two times
   2. Take Somya Virechana (Triphala, Isabgoal Bhusi, Small Harad churn etc ).
   3. Add 2 tab spoon of Cow Ghee in your diat.

I have a good friend who I sent this post to also and she asked me to ask
the group if anyone
knew anything in relation to her following comments so I am! Thanks you
all!

Interesting. Of course the ayurvedic body types also allow for coffee ...
kaffa, especially. When pita or vata are out of balance,
coffee is not usually prescribed. But kaffa types need coffee. I am curious
to see how this relates. Perhaps you have someone
very well versed in ayurveda who might comment.

The one worry is that the coffee association paid for the research.

Coffee Graduates to Health Food Status
Your favorite morning brew has a surprising new perk.

Good news for the 80 percent of Americans who down an average of 3.2 cups of
java a day: Your liver loves it. And because the liver is your body's vital
detox center, that's a big health plus. It's not the caffeine. Apparently,
it's the antioxidants or other compounds in coffee that keep your liver
humming. So if you were just thinking you could do with a cup of joe, go for
it.

The liver is a major multitasker. It's a housekeeper: It filters toxins from
the blood, cleaning pollutants, alcohol, useless residues, nicotine, and
other garbage out of the body. It's also a stock clerk: It keeps extra
carbohydrates on hand and releases them when blood sugar levels are low,
plus it warehouses fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K for future use. It's
a body builder, too: The liver makes proteins to build muscles, and it
produces bile, which is needed to digest fat.

Evidence that coffee takes some stress off the liver was discovered when
scientists determined that coffee lovers have fewer liver enzymes in their
blood than do coffee shunners -- and that's a good thing. Liver enzymes are
an indication of liver damage. What's more, coffee's protective effect was
even more pronounced in moderate to heavy drinkers, even though alcohol can
be particularly taxing on the liver (however, there's no way coffee can make
up for the damage that long-term heavy alcohol consumption does to the
liver). Ready for a refill?

found this page on inflammatory disease that uses fasting and low-
allergen/low carb diets with success, mirroring my own successes with
this approach - if some of you read the multiple sclerosis link i
sent a while back, and looked at the testimonial section, you will
see the results obtained through diet alone (http://www.direct-ms.org/
testimonials.html) - not some expensive and complicated supplement
regimen - and in the below, after 6-8 weeks, there is usually no need
for allopathic meds

http://goldberg.getwebspace.com/inflammatory.html

be interesting to hear what others think, and how these results fit
in with ayurvedic thinking - i think they are relevant to several
factors, primarily those related to satmya, desha, kala etc., as well
as lifestyle, massage etc

Dear Rick

I have some suplemental comments about this.
It looks like when taking such natural medicines for 1-2 months it is
good to make a beak for 10 days - otherwise the body get used to it
and the effect is not so strong anymore.

Any opinions on that would be welcome.

To my expereince Ashwaganda is composed of Pitta and Kapha. If a
person has a Kapha and Pitta constitution he should be carefull to
take ashwagand regularly as it may increse the inbalance.
Vata constitutions would often benefit a lot when taking ashwandha.

Kind regards

I might add that when the naval shifts left or right, there is a
nervous problem. When it shifts left for a women then there are
female problems.

There are many yoga exercises to try. Cobra, bow, plough,
shoulderstand, proper breathing, situps, leg lifts, etc, etc. You
have to find the ones that work. Do a lot of different yoga
postures. Do the pranayams the right way using the solar plexus. I
know some adjustments but it is much too difficult to explain on a
forum.

Thank you for the explanation. I have a little book that describes an
exercise of gently rubbing circles with the palm of your hand starting at the
umbilicus and ever increasing circles until the hand touches the ribs and the
pubic bone - looking down clockwise to increase bowel activity (for
constipation) and anti-clockwise for the opposite effect.

Deep pressure into the iliac fossa area will close or adjust the ileal
caecal valve too which can be affected by shock or trauma and cause bowel
abnormalities also. This can also ease the pain caused by back strain in the
area if done correctly.

Perhaps these might help - but you have probably tried them by now in your 11
years of suffering,

Best,
Jane

Namaste Todd,

Very interesting site, indeed. It is very similar to the Swank diet
and other approaches which I am currently practicing. Thank you for
pointing it out.

I am in amazed and currently disillusioned with western medicine since
my experiences with MS. None of my doctors suggested anything but
injections for the rest of my life. At one point, I had a conflicting
set of lab results and my local neurologist sent me to the University
of Pennsylvania.

I was excited as they have 120 neurologists on staff and represent
a "brain trust". I thought for sure I was going to get some very
interesting advice, a mix of western and some new thoughts on diet,
etc… Instead, the topic of diet never came up. I questioned my
specialist and she told me that MS was already a devastating disease
that they do not mention diet to their patients, in a condescending
manner she said,

"It is already hard enough for a MS patient to cope, let alone tell
them to have a very restrictive diet. But if you believe diet and
supplements are helping you, then by all means do it. However, the
scientific community does not support this approach. Just continue to
take your injections. In fact, the future for MS treatment is new
drugs. The pharmaceutical companies are making remarkable progress."

I was blown away. I could not believe what I was hearing. I came back
home and the next visit told my local neurologist I stopped the
injections and was going to try my approach; diet, supplements,
Ayurveda, etc.. I told her I would like to monitor my condition every
couple of years or sooner, if needed, with MRI to see if the lesions
were increasing, remaining steady or decreasing. Fortunately, she was
agreeable.

Personally, I am holding things steady and feel great about my long-
term prospects. And in many ways, MS has all been a remarkable
blessing as it has had me re-focus on my spiritual path as the real
disease, the worst disease of all, is spiritual bankruptcy.

Now if I could only get the sinuses under control, I could make real
strides in my pranayama practice!

Om Shanti,

C

namaste,
I actually have two questions.
I've been taking ashwaghanda daily for about 6 mos. My question is, is
it ok to take this on a daily basis as a supplement all the time
without a break? Also is there any contraindications with seizure
medication.(not sure what med it is, friend of mine).

Next, is it also ok to take triphala on a daily basis for interior
cleanse and other things? is it necassary to take enima while taking
triphala? I have started to take triphala about a month ago and it may
be coincidence but i am starting to get small pimples in my scalp. I
look at it as a purge. am i right or should i look deeper into it?
Thank you for any info that you can give me.

Rick

Due to toxicity of modern foods, and especially meat, slow "transition
to vegetarianism" wave is sweeping the globe in reverse direction; i.e.
from west to east. If you wish to swim with this crowd, step by step
approach is given by a russian at:
