Thanks for posting the self experience on the benifits of breathing
techniques. The article referred by this author as a link concluded
with the mention that breathing techniques can expedite the cure and
reduce the time to cure.
The breathing techniques in Nepal are substantially same as those
practiced by this author and some key elements how and why they work,
what benifits they give were covered at
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/ayurvedaonline/message/6242
The number of diseases where these techniques will give subtantial
benifits and sometimes obviate the need for any external medicine are
being mentioned again for the benifits of this community. It does not
matter whether you carry out Pranayama of Patanjali as taught by Baba
Ramdev, or you learn Sudarshan Kriya yoga of Shr Sri Ravishankar or
Tibetan techniques taught by Guru Padmasambhava, ultimately similar
benifits will come. Speed of benifits may vary from one method to
other, but benifits will certainly come.
Diseases where breathing techniques have proven highly effective:
1. Many diseases related to head, central nervous system, memory,
alertness, insomnia, depression, addictions.
2. Those related to heart and lungs, including palpitations, angina
pectoris, valve problems, arrhythmia, asthma, emphysema etc
3. Vertigo, dizzines,, migraine, peri and post menopause problems,
liver problems. vision problems, loss of sensation, shake,
parkinsonism, paralysis etc.
4. Stomach problems, gas, indigestion, acidity, ulcers, Diabetes,
insulin resistance, PCOS, erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation,
loss of semen in urine.
It is easier to think on what disease may not be tamed by breathing
techniques, since this list will be shorter.
More examples of breathing benifits are encountered in camps conducted
by Baba Ramdev.

must say also that yoga/pranayama have been key elements of my
treatment and maintenance. i used to use a steroid pump almost daily
and now have only used it extremely rarely (maybe twice in the last 6
months) and at that a very light spray.
