Hi Kylie and welcome!
As you can see from my stats I had gastric bypass and it's worked really well for me. I am as f the last week officially in the normal weight range - mind you I've ALWAYS thought that the BMI scale is a stupid thing, but it's still nice to be where I am! My surgery was originally booked for 4th July like you, and I was SO disapointed when it was moved back a few days, I really liked the thought of having my surgery on American Independence day, somehow I thought that meant my own independence, freedom, etc. etc was going to be a sure thing. I've had some ups and downs, the downs haven't been bad at all and I'm sooooo happy with the results - I simply can't eat the volume I could and that's a fabulous tool. I actually find it all quite easy. I've had moments of concern in the past that I was going to snack my way back up to big again, but I have managed to keep everything under control. And I certainly was addicted to food. I'm still a foodie - I love cooking, baking, I subscribe to several food magazines, I make new recipes for my (long-suffering!) family every week and I STILL start drooling at the sight of yummy cakes etc. in shop windows. I don't think I'll ever change LOL
I still don't like exercise but I walk my dog 20 minutes a day and I kid myself that that is enough. I think it's better than a lot of people! Lots of slim people don't exercise so I think I'm doing ok. Anyway, good luck and keep positive, you WILL succeed!!
