In late January and early February the Parkland Theatre will present
Shelagh Stephenson's gripping drama about domestic violence and
opression, FIVE KINDS OF SILENCE.
FIVE KINDS OF SILENCE is a compelling psychological drama which takes
us
behind closed doors to reveal the secret world of a man obsessed with
controlling the lives of his wife and daughters through violence and
intimidation. A powerful and arresting play exploring the conspiracy
of
silence that surrounds domestic oppression and the terrible price its
victims must pay to break free.
Our production will feature exceptional local actors including, Anne
Shapland Kearns, Joi Hoffsommer, Heather Johnson and Seamus Reilly.
How can you help us?
During our production of That Takes Ovaries in 2006, A Woman's Fund
displayed hand painted Tshirts created by victims of domestic violence
in our lobby. You'll never know how effective these items were. We
would
like to have these again as well as a receptacle for donations for
your
fund.
As you know, through your own experience, it is quite a challenge to
draw audiences to attend theatre with controversial subject matter.
You
can also help us by:
Attending the performance with friends and spreading the word to
colleagues and other organizations.
Performance dates are January 30, February 1,2,7,8,9 at 8pm and a
matinee on February 10 at 3pm.
We offer group rates, student and senior discounts, a low price
preview
performance and a 1/2 price Thursday performance. Tickets are easy to
reserve by calling (217) 351-2528.
Please do not hesitate to call if you have any questions. Thank you so
much for your assistance.
