Hi, I'm sorry about your brother. for you and for our other new member who lost
their brother. This is a nightmare. Its been quiet in the group for a while, I
was hoping we wouldnt get any newbies. I'm sorry you had to join our "club". its
bad enough to lose someone, but this is so awkward to explain. you dont know how
people will take it. and the one thing I despise is the judgement.
most times I say the choking game so I dont get that stupid "oh your kid was a
freak" stare. sometimes i will say accident to avoid a long conversation about
it, they assume car becuase he was a teenager. I guess it just depends on my
mood. I rarely say AEA anymore because of the reactions I've had in the past, I
cant take the ignorance and hurt anymore.
just say whatever you are comfortable with. there is no "wrong" answer.
I think you learn how to read people, feel them out for their reactions.

my brother died I say that "he took his own life". I don't say he committed
suicide, but people probably make that leap on their own. The reason I phrase
it this way is because I feel that he did take his own life into his hands in
doing something so dangerous. I could say that he had an accident, but that
doesn't seem any closer to the truth. My question to others is how do you tell
people how your loved one died? Thanks.
