GUELPH — A Guelph, Ont., man who once killed a woman during a dangerous sex
act gone wrong has died in an apparently similar incident.
Crystal Boarder is charged with manslaughter in the weekend death of her
46-year-old husband, Tony, during, what her lawyer suggested, was a sex act in
their home.
Mr. Boarder was convicted in 1987 of manslaughter in the death of 19-year-old
Susan Porter.
Her body, with a pair of handcuffs attached to her wrist, was found in a
shallow grave.
The Crown said she died while attempting auto-erotic asphyxiation, during
which the amount of oxygen to the brain is reduced to increase stimulation
during sex.
In 1994, Mr. Boarder was charged with aggravated sexual assault for allegedly
putting a plastic bag over his girlfriend's head during sex.
A judge dismissed the charge when she insisted she had consented to the
unusual act.
