Hi Cheryl,
Very much around, but went mostly silent online recently. Still legally
wrangling with my employer, and right now bracing up for the court date
later this month.
Miss the old board and hope it gets revived.
How are you and the boys?

STill alive and kicking....sort of. Ended up in the hospital in Dec. with a
slipped disk. It pretty much has curtailed most activities for me as it hurts
all the time. I'm still watching Jakie and Cole for now tho but don't know how
much longer. Cole is crawling now and getting FAST!!! LOL
I was just talking to a board owner yesterday. I told her I have been at this
for 6 years now on the net and need to retire. Partly because I can't sit very
long at one time, partly because I have said everything 10,000 times now, read
everything, incorporated all I can and have just run out of energy for it.
Obviously I will be dealing with autism the rest of my life but need a break.
Don't know if I told you, but Chris and I got married this past Oct. He was
laughing because we have been together 13 years but he said "As soon as we got
married the warranty ran out and your parts started breaking down" LOL
Just had my 56th birthday. Guess it was time as I am one of those that never
even get colds. sigh
I am leaving for NJ in the morning to go see our newest grandson Elijah, born
the end of January to Chris' daughter. He is in DC right now and will fly to NJ
tomorrow to meet me there.
Hope all is well with you and the boys. I guess Gerald is driving now? I always
loved having the "new" driver. They were so willing to run errand for me. LOL
I did see your trouble with Daniel's school tho. God, it never ends!!!!
Thankfully the boys are in a great place with willing people. The Sped Dir.
adores Thomas and the school psych is his buddy. He loves having Thomas come to
his office. Ryan is doing great but, of course, there is always something to
work on. Fix one thing and something else crops up.

Hi I'm Nicky and I have a daughter who has been
diagnosed with being on the spectrum. She isn't talking yet
(she will be 4 in March), she is showing other signs
i.e hand flapping going round in circles etc. I am at
the moment going through trying to potty train her.
She will use the potty at home as long as she isn't
wearing anything, but does any one have any good
suggestions about what to do when we go out. After all she
has no way of telling me she wants to go. She has not
taken yet to Makaton signing, and she never shows any
signs she wants to go ie squirming or hopping on one
leg etc.
I just want to introduce myself. I am deeply
interested in what manifests Autism, Tourette Syndrome
(which my daughter and I have) as well as OCD and the
whole 9 yards! I take care of autistic children as a
sort of "Second Mom." This is my job and I have found
that I am in demand!!! I appreciate the parents who
have felt comfortable enough to leave their children
in my care for the first time ever with anyone
besides family. God has given me a gift and in return I
get a group of kids that love me, without the labor
pains!
Hi, I just joined with this club. I have a 4 1/2
year old hf and hyperlexic autistic son and a 2 1/2
year old girl on the spectrum. My husband is ready to
leave for 6 months with his job. We recently moved here
and I don't have any support system here and there is
no respite in the area. My parents think they will
"grow out of it"...still in denial. My son has a bad
gut problem. We have tried everything....gluten casin
free...tomatis method...supernuthera...swimming with the
dolphins...alternative medicine therapy...etc... He has meltdowns
frequently and is highly destructive. Sometimes he just
cries all day. When I ask him whats wrong he just
repeats whats wrong. If I say do you want to go outside
or are you hungry yes or no. He says yes or no. If
you don't get it right...look out! He broke our
computer in a fit of rage...bites...kicks... He is really
loving and wants friends but doesnt know how to make
them. He will hit them...instead of saying hello. I am
just worn out now and could really use a friend who is
going through similar situation. Thanks for the vent
and sorry about the long post...Tracy

Hi all. I'm in search of comforting words. I
can't get my 6 wk old son to make eye contact. My first
son loved to look at my face. The lack of eye contact
has me worried. Did anyone notice this with their
child?--Cheryl
