A 'think outside the box' look at one of the GWI vets' chemical exposures
One of the chemical exposures for the 90-91 Gulf War vets was a commonly used chemical from the 1930s to the present. It IS on the list of solvents and pesticides the gulf war troops were exposed to. 2-butoxyethanol and its compound version, diethylene glycol monobutyl ether, are solvents, but also in some odd way ... pesticides. That would explain the endocrine disruption.

A chemical of concern: suspect for diabetes, many cancers & birth defects
Although the harm of this chemical is recongized by researchers, it is not recognized by people who are overly exposed ... nor their doctors. It starts out looking like the FLU. Remember a time when you had a serious FLU & Horrible fatigue and headaches? It should be suspect for causing CFIDS & 'gulf war syndrome' ... many birth defects and cancers. USA says they don't know about cancers/birth defects. It is a teratogen chemical in widespread use. Suspect it also for the epidemic of diabetes & many autoimmune metabolic issues including obesity, autism, leukodystrophies

In 1989 there was an effort to save the sea otters and baby seals who were harmed by the oil spilled from the Exxon Valdez. Many volunteers may have paid for their graciousness with their lives. Some information on what happened to the workers including the November 5k, 2001 LA Times article. Some thoughts on loss of 80% of the herring of Prince William Sound in Alaska in 1993 may have been from the cleanup chemicals used. Thoughts in general on the demise of the sea mammals & written comments 10-15--03 to the committee asking for public input ... how to clean up oil spills in the future.
