Hi all - I am a new member here's my intro:
I lost 130ish lbs on a low carb diet beginning about 7 or 8 years ago since
that time I began gaining back. I did not fall off wagon (that I realized)
but the lbs were coming back on (again didnt truly realize til too late). So
I put back on 75 lbs. At some point I thought hmmm most of my clothes dont
fit, yikes maybe I have gained 20/30 lbs, that's all right I will get it off
-- I will spend more time in gym etc. All the while without weighing myself
and facing reality. Little did I know I had gained back SEVENTY FIVE LBS! I
now have a rule, I must weigh myself, can not avoid scale again.
Last couple years I have been struggling to get it back off (and I have more
to go once I do) following a bodybuilder type plan (five meals, very
balanced, incl brown rice etc) lost 40 but only kept 20 off. The results were
not
effective or consistent for me. I am reading Atkins 2002 now (read the old
Atkins book years ago when I first started) and I am hoping it will work again
if I follow it correctly.
While I was gaining back on my ongoing low carb plan years ago, I was
eating whatever I wanted so long as it was non starch veggie, meat, cheese,
fat.
I was queen of cream cheese dips with pork rinds, cheesy casseroles. My
theory now is that I exceeded my carb limit eating that way. Somehow I got
away
from the idea that on Atkins induction cheese is limited to 3 - 4 oz and the
majority of the carb count is supposed to come from certain non starch
veggies. I am hopeful that with these changes I can begin to lose again.
I have never knowingly gone off a nutrition plan. Once I realized I had
gained so much back on my own version of low carb, I started Ultrametabolism
and
then Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle plans. Both are very nutritionally sound,
well balanced and both allow brown rice, whole grains, sweet potatoes that
type of thing). I am now about 3 weeks back on true low carb.
Here's the breakdown:
1st week back I did my own version of low carb -- results, gained 5.5 lbs
2nd week I had read pertinent chapters of Atkins 2002 and began induction --
first 2 to 3 days I lost SIX LBS (which I think must not have been accurate),
end of that week only really down about 3 lbs
Am now on 3rd week - staying strong til I weigh again and can determine if
induction is really burning body fat.
Thanks for having me, happy to be here. : )
