"Am I on the money or am I off my rocker? What do others think?
- Mark"
Quote above from Dr. Merrick from previous post on this subject.
My answer to him is, No you are right on the money!
Incorporate this pre-season camp experience into a clinical course and
the AT student gets some well earned experience while working on
completing a course for which he/she is earning credit for. Normally
housing/meals can be arranged through the same channels as the student
athletes. If you can get the AT student through two pre-season camp
sessions, I think you have done a good job as an educator providing the
exposure to managing and prioritizing athlete health care, while
teaching them how to practice the profession of Athletic Training.
Thanks.
