Subject: Entry Level Masters Degree

In a recent court filing by the APTA in our lawsuit against CMS, one
of the things that they said that makes them different/better, is
that all of their programs are Entry Level Masters Degree's.

Recently, an NATA task force has set deadlines to have a Degree in
Athletic Training (rather than Exer & Sport Science, or PE) to sit
for the BOC exam; in that same decision they came to the conclusion
that it would be best to maintain our entry level degree as a
Bachelors degree.

With Physical Therapy moving more and more to the DPT, I think it is
a mistake for the NATA to not move us forward with an Entry Level
Masters Degree. Some schools have already done so (University of
North Carolina @ Greensboro) and I think that if there is a 10 year
plan to have the degree in Athletic Training as a requirement, we
should couple that with requiring an Entry-Level Masters.

I believe that this has been debated before, but I think in light of
this recent court document using this AGAINST US, we should re-visit
the issue now, rather than 10 years from now.

While I respect Mr. Griffin's position on why we should move towards an entry-level masters, I am still compelled to strongly disagree with it. While the...

I couldn't agree more with Dr. Alvarez. If we are going to change things we must do it for reasons other than just trying to keep up with the Jones. If other...

While I agree with most of what you said, there is one area I do not. That is the statement about the DPT cheapening the PhD degree. Few PT positions in...
