EATA Annual Meeting - Call for Abstracts

EATA Research Committee
CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

EATA Research Presentations
Eastern Athletic Trainers' Association Annual Meeting & Clinical Symposium
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania . January 7 - 10, 2006

DEADLINE FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSION: October 15, 2005

Reports on experimental research, injury surveys, case studies, and/or other
research projects that are pertinent to the practice of athletic training
are welcomed from athletic trainers, physicians, exercise physiologists,
biomechanists, physical therapists, educators, and other health care
professionals. All abstracts will undergo blind review. Literature reviews
are unacceptable!

Submit abstracts according to the following directions:

1. The abstract should follow the structured format utilized by the Journal
of Athletic Training for manuscript articles (see item #17 in the JAT
Authors' Guide). Components of a structured abstract differ by the type of
presentation but should include: Original Research articles: Objective,
Design and Setting, Subjects, Measurements, Results, Conclusions, and Key
Words; Case Reports: Background, Differential Diagnosis, Treatment,
Uniqueness, Conclusions, and Key Words; Clinical Techniques: Objective,
Background, Description, Clinical Advantages, and Key Words. Additional
formatting guidelines can be found by accessing the NATA Research and
Education Foundation web site at http://www.natafoundation.org/

2. The abstract is limited to 400 words (Original Research)/600 words (Case
Reports & Clinical Techniques) and must be typed, single-spaced, on a single
page with 1' margins on all sides. Type the title of the paper/abstract in
all CAPITAL letters starting at the left margin.

3. On the next line, indent 3 spaces and type the names of all authors, with
the presenting author listed first. Type the last name, then initials
(without periods), followed by a comma; continue with the other authors (if
any), ending with a colon.

4. Indicate the institution (including the city and state) where the
research, case report, or clinical technique was conducted on the same line
following the name(s) of the author(s). Double space and begin typing the
text of the abstract flush left in a single paragraph with no indentations.
Do not justify the right margin.

5. Forward the original abstract, a blind copy (one that does not indicate
any information concerning the author's name or institution) and a cover
letter that includes the presenter's mailing address, city, state, zip code,
work phone, fax, e-mail address, and NATA membership number to
kaminski@... If you were a student at the time of the study, please
indicate whether you were an undergraduate or graduate student. A
confirmation message will be sent once the files have been received
electronically. The preferred format for electronic submissions is as
Microsoft Word or pdf files.

6. If accepted for presentation, the original abstract will appear as
submitted in the conference proceedings CD-ROM. Be sure to carefully check
for spelling and grammatical errors before submitting the abstract for
review.

7. Accepted abstracts will be presented at the EATA meeting in poster
format.

8. Any abstract submitted for presentation at the Eastern Athletic Trainers'
Association (EATA) Annual Meeting and Clinical Symposium is also eligible
for submission to the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) Annual
Conference and Symposium
