Does anyone else have issues with their institutional rules or program rules
about having a student earning work-study money while also getting course
credit? Our program does not allow students to get both. I guess it is not
quite an ethical issue, but leans to that direction. Our athletics department
does have a few work-study students who do things like filing, answering phones,
cleaning swimex etc. However, they are not program students, are not doing
anything medical, and are not earning credit. I think logistically, this is
much easier on everyone.
I agree with the last 2 postings about keeping it in the range of 20, without
creating clock watchers. We have a 16-22 hour range as the average. ACI's are
asked to schedule these on a calander ahead of time (some weeks they have more,
some weeks they have less)....if a student comes at any other time, it is
volunteer. We encourage ACIs to remember to allow students to have a college
experience. Just as the NCAA mandates 20 hours/week and one day off, so do we.
My 2 cents,
