As far as I know, there is no such thing as different level of education in athletic training (even though there may be different quality in education). There are programs that are accredited by CAAHEP, which are usually better than ones that are not. Also, if you graduate from non CAAHEP accredited programs, you will go through a slightly different registration process on NATABOC exam. As far as being a head or associate trainer, you are most likely to be asked for a master's degree along with enough experiences in the profession. There are many work places for athletic trainers. Some are high school, college, clinic, hospital, physical therapy, industry, military, professional sport, etc. Even some fitness gyms employ athletic trainers.
My advice for you is to find a good CAAHEP athletic training program. You will learn much more about athletic training including career opportunities. Another way to obtain information is to be a member of NATA. You can visit their website: www.nata.org.
Good luck.

I'm a student at the University of Alabama, and I'm interested
in Athletic Training. I was wondering about the different
places of employment one could be hired at for athletic training.
I was also wondering about the different levels of training:
high school, college, professional; also for assistant, associate,
or head trainer. Are there different levels of education one must
complete to qualify for different levels of employment? I
appreciate the help if anybody has any answers.
