I honestly wouldn't worry about it...

The most important thing, esp. considering you both have AS, is that you two
are at peace...and it may well be that this "young lady" has consistently run
into people her own age that are not at peace with her (likely out of
superficial-ity and need to be around someone who makes them look/feel more
normal than someone with AS).
So, as a lesson I learned from Frank Kafka's "The Trial" and in life you are
only as guilty as you make yourself look and the amount of damage you actually
do...and it looks to me like you're a good person with best intentions and you'd
help everyone else best if you just sat back and enjoyed yourself. :-)

Side note, I'm 27 and in a now over 2 year relationship with someone whose
relatives originally hated me but now love me...in the end actions proceed over
any preconceived notions about age, economic background, or other issues.
