I know what you mean about anxiety getting worse in adulthood. I think it has to
do with becomming more self-aware and seeing how other people see my natural
behavior as rude, inconsiderate or just wierd. Every time I interacted with
someone I read (or thought I read) boredom and annoyance in their reaction to
me. Joining an aspie support group and finding friends who accept my surface
behavior unconditionally has done wonders for my confidence, but it still feels
like I had fear and worry when I was younger and didn't care what other people
thought about me. I don't know if this helps, but I do know what you're going
through anyway. take care!

Most of my anxiety is centered around school and social situations. I
am 21 and am in college. I feel anxious most of the day and am
exhausted when I get home. Even the smallest stressor can trigger
anxiety. Interacting with people is very difficult, and having a
speech impairment makes it even more difficult. At the end of the
day, I can't help but remind myself of all the mistakes I made. I
hope this answers your question.
