Any word on when asncoc will be meeting again? Not sure why it costs
anything to meet. Did the previous meeting places charge? The

I really appreciated the support and guidance that I found at the

Hello to everyone, I am a relatively new member to the group, I
haven't posted until now. I have a 7 year old little sweetheart who
has autism and we live in Chapel Hill. I just came across a website
that lets you send letters to all the Presidential Candidates for
information regarding their ideas on Autism and funding for Autism.
http://capwiz.com/a-champ/home/
Click on the Take Action area on the left side of the page and it will
bring you to a page with links to send both the Democratic and
Republican party candidates emails or even printed letters about this.
It has the info already provided and typed, and has room for you to
make your own comments and additions, and even add a picture.
This seems like a great way to inundate them with questions about what
they are going to do for the Autism cause.
Thanks!

Hello
all families, including families with younger children,
Attached
is an invitation to the next family and friends advisory committee meeting for
the Autism Community Initiative. www.aci-nc.org
The
meeting will be:
7:00PM,
Wednesday, November 28th
Chapel
Hill Bible Church
260
Erwin Road, Chapel Hill (where Erwin intersects with Sage Rd.)
Refreshments
will be served.
Please
come out and learn more about ACI. In 2004, the Autism Society of North
Carolina challenged parents to be creative and generate ideas to help alleviate
the shortage of appropriate residential opportunities for adults with autism in
North Carolina. The result was the formation of the Autism Community Initiative;
a nonprofit corporation of parents and grandparents of adults with autism
committed to developing and delivering high quality programs and services.
ACI
currently has a bill in the legislature requesting the start up capital
required to begin realizing this vision. It will be vitally important
that our local representatives hear from each and every one of us about our
children with autism and their future needs.

Disability Rights North Carolina (formerly Carolina Legal Assistance) is now the Protection and Advocacy (P&A) organization for North Carolina. It is part of a nationwide network of similar organizations charged with the responsibility of protecting the rights of people who have disabilities.
Federal regulations require that Disability Rights North Carolina develop a set of annual “priorities.” This year’s priority-setting process will take place over the next few weeks, ending with final approval of priorities by our board of directors at its December 14 meeting. These priorities, which will guide us in our protection and advocacy work, will be reported to our federal granting agencies.
Your input is critical to the development of meaningful priorities, which will guidethe activities of Disability Rights North Carolina during the coming year.
Please complete the attached survey and send it back to me by November 15, 2007 using one of the following
options:
In addition, there will be listening sessions across the state during October and November. If you are interested in participating, please contact abreedlove@...for more details. Some of these events are confirmed and their flyers are also attached. In subsequent emails, you will receive additional flyers regarding other sessions as they are confirmed.
Thanks and
