With
the assistance of Maureen Morrell, Community Relations Consultant at the Autism
Society of North Carolina;
the ASNC/OC board is recruiting
a group of parents to meet with our local legislators. It is important
for the policy makers to hear about how the budget cuts will affect the lives
of those living with autism/DD, and their families.
The best time for meeting
legislators in their home districts is Friday through Monday. Since our local
reps are very busy in “leadership positions”, we may need to offer
them a meeting at the legislature Tuesday through Thursday. We have some very
influential representatives in Orange County.
Maureen has offered to arrange
the meeting and meet with the parents before this to discuss some talking
points and explanations of how these visits can be most effective as well as go
to the meeting with us.
We are hoping to gather 10 to
15 individuals. If you are able to devote some time to this important
issue, please contact:
Lisa Dankner and please cc
Maureen as well. mmorrell@...
