I am Sindoor Desai a dentist & a mother to Sujeet 26, born with Down syndrome(Trisomy 21)who is married . In 1974 I immigrated to US from Bombay, India . Sujeet is an accomplished musician/speaker who shares his music & life story with power point workshops. My husband Sharad also a dentist, & I travel with him to help his Mission “Nothing is Impossible if you believe in your abilities and work hard at it without giving up” I also do workshops on disability issues. Traveling worldwide with Sujeet we met many Asian parents who wanted to know the key to Sujeet’s success. I find their children have many talents. However the lack of inclusion, advanced medical ,educational benefits in their countries may be the reason of their disappointment. I would like to help these parents. To raise special children is a team effort. Connecting with experienced parents can be a big aid especially from similar cultural values. I would like to form an online support group, that will help them to connect with families according to their child’s age & individual needs.Obtain updated resources on education, health, special needs services & more. Connect them with various professionals in their area for advices .Share their experiences and provide/receive emotional support through other families. “Global Connections” from “East to West” will help unite people as a special family with unique “Ancient Asian” cultural values.It can help you develop in your child those values that you intensely believe in.
