YES - the body can only absorb 600 mg a time of calcium - so if you're taking a
lot, you'd have to srpead it out over the day to get it in - I've also read that
1500mg/day is MAX absorption for calcium.
My endo tells me to drink and eat foods rich in calcium in addition to supps.

is where my endo wants it - she says that a little bit below normal levels is
the newest treatment protocol for hypoparathyroidism. So Ionized calcium normal
is 4.5-5.5 as normal and mine is at 4.3 and that is where she wants it. Normal
blood calcium is 8.5-10.0 and mine runs 8.1-8.2 - again where she wants it. All
my DEXA scans look great and bone density looks good.

citrate? The citrate form of calcium is better absorbed and easier on the GI
tract. A goodbrand is Citracal.

double dose of calcitriol(4 -.25 per day) plus 4000-6000 mg of calcium. I am
very nervous about him absorbing too much calcium. Any thoughts?
