Hi Linda,
I had cataracts whne I was younger and had my whole lens removed in
both eyes. Due to extended contact wearing, my corneas are being
damaged and thickening. I think this is due to having to wear
contacts daily for 22 years. BUT I also had a retina scare about 8
months ago - I kept seeing a black dot for days - it would not go
away and my coworker said it could be a detached retina. My
opthamologist said that it would not surprise him if I did have
retinal issues considering my eye history - I think though that the
problems with my eyes were partly due to undiagnosed
hypoparathyroidism and very low calcium levels for so long. I do know
that I see a cornea and retina specialist too who is "watching" my
eyes yearly for changes - whatever that may mean.
Keep me posted on what happens. It seems Tara and I may have similar
presentations.
