Re: Type 1 diagnosis

Hi Vicki, Julia and all,
Yes Vicki is right- my daughter Tara was diagnosed with Type 1
Diabetes at age 33. She had no symptoms. She was actually at Dr.
Maclaren's office for a routine check up, feeling great when he ran
her blood and her sugar was 359 in the afternoon. Tara and I were
stunned. This was the first time she had a high sugar but he
immediately diagnosed Type 1 and started her on Insulin. Then the
diabetes seemed to quiet down a bit for a few months- the honeymoon
period I am told and then the full blown case.
Tara had been told she would probably get diabetes at some time
because she had antibodies in her blood.
I wish I could be of further help, Julia, because this is such a
wonderful exciting time and I know just how you feel since both Tara
and her sister are adopted. And you know Tara is a new mom using a
surrogate and it is working out beautifully. The baby just turned one
year. I can only suggest you get a confirmed diagnosis as soon as
possible.
Best wishes to you Julia and everyone else on the board. I was hoping
the lack of messages meant stability in most of your lives.
Love,
Linda

Please keep us posted on your health as well as your new baby.
