Hi Donna,
I hope Ethan is feeling better. Yes, this is something to watch out
for because during stress times Ethan needs more cortisone. The
problem is how much more to give and we don't always get it right. The
same thing recently happened to my daughter- high potassium and low CO
2. very dangerous. And the diabetes just compounds the issue.
Was Ethan ill when this happened? Had you given him extra Cortef? Tara
took enough extra the day she had dental surgery but then went back to
her normal dose too soon. It is such a balancing act. Perhaps Ethan's
doctor will give you rule of thumb instructions to prevent this. Tara
has had Addisons since she was six and has only had two Addison's
crisis in the last 30 years if that makes you feel better.
Good luck dealing with so many things at once.
Linda
