Hi,
I seldom visit this group, because my 6y son has no confirmed apeced
dgn, but he has chronic mycocutaneous candidiases since birth and
hypocalcemia and his treatment is as for apeced - dihydrotachysterole.
Most of times my son has candida problems in his stomach (but only rare
cases it has been detected via stool analyses), but when it gets worse,
it spreads also into mouth, esp on tongue. Sometimes fever appears,
too. Good thing is, it never spreads into blood or skin.
Following text is my experience, I havent found any deep sientific
paper to prove that, so I dont know- does thing work this way only for
my son or also for other people with hypocalcemia and candida problems.
My 6y experience is that dihydrotachysterole (this is used for
hypoparathyroidism in our country) dose rearrangement works against
candida much better than Diflucan. My son was on Nystatin+Diflucan
dayly treatment for years, but he hardly needs these untifungals after
starting dihydrotachysterole. He still has candida problems if dose is
not appropriate (our dr.rises dose in winter (no sun here) and lowers
for summer (sunny time), so it usually happens when first autumn rains
start, but he is still on summer doses)
He also gets candida attack followed for dihydrotachysterole dose rise,
but this is "good" one (die off) - means that candida just gets out and
he will feel himself much better after attack.
