Hi Julia,
One reason for the lower calcitriol doses may be the build up of
calcium in the kidneys. The oral calcium is less likely to cause
this. I was also told that the phosphorus levels are better
maintained by oral calcium. I wish I understood more. Tara is
having problems with malabsorption once again. She just got another
round of IVIG but so far no improvement.
She has lost a considerable amount of weight.
