Katie,
I originally heard about the statistic about religion and abortion here on a Pro-life Podcast (worth listening to):
Their site references another for the statistic: http://guttmacher.org/in-the-know/index.html
This site says that 78% of women getting an abortion identify themselves as religious. I'm not sure about the rate issue, since we would have to know how many people in the general population identify themselves as religious. But the fact is that religious women are definitely getting a large majority of the abortions. Here's an excerpt:
" Do women with religious affiliations have abortions?
- Nearly eight in 10 U.S. women obtaining an abortion report a religious affiliation (43% are Protestant, 27% Catholic and 8% another religion). Among all women aged 15–44, 51% are Protestant, 28% are Catholic and 5% belong to other religions. "
This site has similar statistics: http://www.abortionno.org/Resources/fastfacts.html

I suppose the statistics that show that religious teens have
abortions at higher rates than non-religious teens are a result of
the religious teens continuing to want to be able to "appear" pure.
We all should make an effort to treat pregnant teens and young
mothers with respect.

I have a question for Jackie Mitchell. You said abortion rates are
higher for "religious" teens than non-religious teens, which does
make sense. But do you have a source for that? I've gotten into
this discussion with so many people before (I'm usually the only non-
religious lifer in discussion circles, lol), and I'd like to show
them a source for that if you have them, or the numbers or
something. Thanks :)
