HI Darla,
I also, had those smells, but they have since left, and what I have left now
is a very diminished sense of smell, but the food taste have changed and are
starting to resemble the norm. I hope it happens soon for her, I know what's it
like to have that distorted sense.
Good Luck. Bill

In early September of this year i had a bad cold. After the stuffiness and violent cough left me i noticed that my sense of smell did not return and i could...
Michelle, My story is so much similar to yours. I had a bad cold associated with a cough in June of this year. After resolving the congestion issue, I...
Michelle Colds themselves cause anosmia, I've never heard of the cough being the cause. check out http://personal.ecu.edu/wuenschk/ViralMick.htm Mick ... ...
Hi Rhonda There is evidence to suggest that the nerve is not implicated in viral attacks. I'm working on a feature (that unfortunately we won't see until 2005)...
Mick, So you are telling me that viral anosmia as a result of a bad cold damaged my olfactory receptors. Also, that these receptors will regenerate themselves....
Rhonda I cannot diagnose anything I'm afraid - I am 3500 miles (or more) from where you are, and I have no medical training. I can tell you that I am a science...

Yes, my sense of taste seems much more damaged than my sense of smell. I

I have taste distortion too. Especially with sweet stuff. I can eat chocolate, peanutbutter bars, cake, sugar cereal, etc. and they will all taste sweet BUT...
I was thinking the same thing ... to locate some aromas I could smell, however faintly, and to routinely sniff them. Keep those little receptors "on the job"...
Patty, mine came back slowly (over about 3 years I'd say, after I started treatment). If it was viral anosmia then the cells will regenerate cell by cell, so...
