FW: also having some benifit from Alpha Lipoic Acid   Message List

Hi Kristi, that's wonderful. I know just how you feel! I had totally
given up on ever being able to taste or smell again. I haven't had any
problems with depression, primarily because I was so thankful that I didn't
lose a more critical sense.

I lost my sense of taste/smell over a 6 month period about 15 years ago. I
didn't realize what was going on at the time, but in looking back I realize
that I lost the delicate scents/flavors first, followed by the stronger
ones.

Amazingly, they are coming back in the same order. I can smell delicate
scents better than strong ones, my eyes water from onions but no detectable
odor, but I can smell my wife's perfume. I'm cautiously optimistic that I
will continue to improve.

If it wasn't for this group, I doubt I would have ever heard of ALA!! I'm
taking 200 mg three time a day (total of 600 mg).

I would like to visit with a doctor who specializes in taste/smell. Does
anyone on the group know of such a person in the Texas / Oklahoma / New
Mexico area?

Thanks,
Joe

Subject: also having some benifit from Alpha Lipoic Acid

I have been suffering from phantom smells and no smells and little or no
taste since March of 2008 when I got a very bad cold from my grandson and
took to z packs and waited and waited for my sense of smell and taste to
return. I don't think I would have made it without you guys!!! I had some
family members read some posts to show them that I did not suffer alone and
to also explain my sudden weight gain...that baffled me the most. I started
taking the ALA about 3 weeks ago 200mg in the morning and again at night, I
swear I can smell and taste somethings....I can eat a strawberry
again...chocolate has regained most of its flavor, yesterday I tasted peanut
butter....I would say about 25% if smell and 40% taste. I still cannot smell
any poop smells and I know this because of changing my grandsons diapers and
I no longer hate going to the bathroom right after my husband!!! I am in
heaven over this and just wanted to report!!!! Thank you for all of your
posts~~
Kristi
