Hi Tami,
Welcome to the group! I'm in Texas... but I can relate to your phantom
smells (I think most of us can), and I celebrated one day when I
smelled vanilla but that was it for several months now. Learning to
live with anosmia myself.
I'm not familiar with smell issues and pregnancy but it certainly could
be related I would think.
Yes, it does bother me a bit when someone says I'm "lucky"... however I
guess there are times when I think I am too. For example I get to
carry the doggy poop bags - doesn't bother me one bit... also the chief
cleaner of other disagreeable messes. At those times I think hey, this
isn't so bad.
BUT.. the other side to that is the loss of my fine tuned taste, not
being able to smell perfume, losing the smell/memory connection for
things like my mother's perfume and the joy I would get from smelling
it, the delicious smell of new rain, or just the outdoors. Things like
that far outweigh the "being able to clean up messes". It makes me
very sad if I think about it for long so I choose to move forward and
build new memories that for me, won't be smell related.
Enjoy your stay here, lots of people to get to know!
Beah
