Hi Mike,
I'll keep you in my prayers for your surgery. If you dont'
believe in prayer, don't worry about it, I don't think it matters 8-)
Sounds like you've covered all the bases. Secrets and solitude are
a shortcut to relapse. Have fun with your brother! Sound like a good
time to be had. 32 years is a long break in a relationship - isn't it
great the surprises the being clean and sober can bring.
Can't believe summer is 1/2 over! 10 days till the county fair and I
am really looking forward to it. This is a real agricultural
community with a real old fashioned fair - no alcohol! Food, games,
rides, music, 4-H shows, demolition derby - I love all of it! Before
I got sober I used come up to this county to camp and had no interest
in the fair. No beer? Why bother! Now I can be happy walking around
and looking at everything, seeing people and waiting for the Firemans
Parade to start. It's just enough for me.
Next month I'll celebrate 25 years of sobriety. When I got sober I
thought my life was over - that I'd never laugh or ever have fun ever
again. My first meetings I remember thinking 'Look at all those old
people. I'd quit drinking too if I was that old!' Now I'm one of
them LOL! Of course, I don't look half as bad as I thought I would
when I got here!
Bless you!
