     my name is tonya and i lost my baby Dec. 4th 2007 to anencephaly,
she weighed 4lbs 1oz at birth. this is a very scary and emotional
experience to go through. so many questions and if there is anything
that i can do to help you let me know. i found out when i was 13 weeks

Hi,

I lost my baby girl in 2003 and then lost my baby boy in 2005 both to anencephaly .

In 2007, my wife was pregnant with twins. We were scared to death that our twins may have anencephaly. After 2 consecutive anencephaly cases, the risk was even higher. But God gives us perfect twin boys, they are now 9 month old.

I understand your sadness, your confusion, but there's nothing you can do but accept it with open heart.

I'm so sorry for what you are going threw right now, I lost my baby girl in 11-04-04. Losing a baby to anencephaly is one of the most difficult thing to understand. No one can tell you why this happens or why you. I have seen women who smoke, drink, and even do drugs and their babies are born fine, yet I dont smoke, drink, or do drugs and look my baby dies of a rare disease. All I can tell you is that you are at the right site. Everyone here understands what you are going threw. Sometimes talking to people who understand can help more than you think. I'm very close to my family but sometimes I found it hard to talk to them. I'm not saying they can help, I couldn't have made it threw this without them, but this site has help me by realizing that I'm not alone and even though I dont know these people I feel that we all share a special bond and it help me at this difficult time.

I'm so sorry to hear about your news.  My name is Angie and I actually
just joined this group because my sister saw your message.  In October
of 2005 I was 12 weeks pregnant with twins and had a sonogram, finding
out then that one of my precious babies had anencephaly.
On March 23, 2006 Both of my boys came into this world.  Nathaniel
James was born at 1:14 p.m. and Gabriel Steven at 1:17.  Nathaniel
lived for the most precious hour and a half of our lives.

I'm sorry to hear about your daughter and i appreciate you writing to me. I am just trying to figure out what to do because i am having twins. So it is either carry them both to full term but the doctors said babies with anencephaly cannot swallow and i will have a great amount of fluid build up in my body which will cause me to go into premature labor and sacrifice the healthy babys life. Or i can choose to stop the heart rate of the baby with anencephaly and there is a 5% chance i can miscarry the other baby but thats the only real risk. I have no clue what to do. I always thought that terminating one baby would never be an option and i really dont believe in that, but when your in a situation like this its hard. I would love to hear about your pregnancy thought and what happened if you wouldnt mind talking about it. Talk to you soon
