Re: [anencephaly] Re: Noah Robert Hamilton

Kaisha,

when I did the triple marker test--it should an elevated risk of a neural tube defect.  At 19 weeks we went in for a special ultrasound and was told about the anencephaly.  Doctors do not know why for sure--I had been on a prenatal months before getting pregnant and had more than the recommended daily dose of Folic acid.  I have noticed on line that quite a few mothers who have anencephalic babies are overweight.  I was extremely overweight while carrying Lily 293 pounds--I have since lost 45 pounds and hoping to get pregnant again.  This is a guess of my that weight is involved for some of the anencephalic babies but not all.  Please take care and take it one day at a time.

Thankyou and i am sorry you had to go through this.  My friend lives in portland and a few months ago she went through the same thing. She didnt care though cause she didnt want her baby.  It makes me sad that so many mothers have and are going through this and are only told after the fact that a lack of folic acid could have been the cause.  How far along were you when you found out?  Did dr's tell you why?  Thanks for caring

I am so sorry that you are having to go through this gut wrenching
situation. I was pregnant with my daughter and we found out during a
targeted ultrasound that our girl had anencephaly. I knew what that
word meant because of friend of mine had a girl a couple of years
earlier with the same diagnosis. My life has never been the same
since that day and there has been a lot of heartache--but slowly it
has gotten easier to deal with--my thoughts are with you and your
family.
