I am so sorry to hear that your niece's baby has been diagnosed with anencephaly. My name's Yvonne and I live in the UK. My first daughter was diagnosed with anencephaly at 17 weeks. I carried her to term, but sadly she was born still at 42 weeks.
Please don't look at those clinical pictures of anencephalic babies, they are for medical students, not for loving families of anencephalic children. Please look at the photo albums here to see our precious little ones who are loved.
If your neice wants to carry her little one to term, don't let doctors force her into a termination. Many women carry their babies to term, and many babies are born alive and can live for a few hours, or even weeks.
I see Nicole has replied with some links, please use these links instead of just googling anencephaly. On the anencephalie-info site, you will find a list of support groups that you and your niece can join to hepl you both through this difficult journey.
Take care
Love Yvonne xxx
