Nicole,
I have had two babies with Anencephaly. I know how sad and difficult it is to receive this diagnosis. Please do not allow the doctors to convince you that the baby is somehow not a person. While it is true that the babies brain is not completely formed, the baby is not brain dead. The baby is a person with a soul, and deserves all the love which you can give him or her. I encourage you to support your sister/sister in law as much as you can. Be there for her and let her know that you will help her in whatever way you can. Encourage her to name the baby and to talk to the baby. Tell her that she should be proud to be a mother, and that she is truly a mother of a beautiful baby who will some day soon go to heaven.
If you need further support please do not hesitate to contact me.
Patricia
