Re: [anencephaly] folic acid sub preg/ lc mentioned

Rachel -
Getting pregnant again is absolutely terrifying and you'll be very nervous the whole pregnancy. But it is soooo worth it!
I lost my daughter Angel Gabriella to anencephaly 2.25.05 and went on to deliver a healthy, beautiful 11 pound 13 ounce baby boy 2.17.06. I took 5 mg of folic acid a day and prayed. There is not a doubt in my mind that my daughter helped create my son so beautiful and healthy.
Good luck. Mega dose vitamins!
Jenny

Rachel,
Many of us have gone on to have more children who were perfectly healthy after experiencing this horrible birth defect.  The chance of reuccurance(sp) is there, but it is not really common.  Hold on to the thought that your angel will be there when you pass, take your folic acid as prescribed, and go ahead and try again.  It is scary...I as not able to be sure until I held my daughter in my arms...even though all the tests said she was fine (they also said she was a boy.  lol)  It will be worth it.
God Bless,
Lorie (mommy to an angel in heaven, who will be 20 this April 12th, and her three healthy siblings).

Our daughter was diagnosed as anencephalic last April and was
stillborn in September.  We were told to take the folic acid three to
four months before trying to get pregnant again.  Does this really
help?  I'm terrified of getting pregnant again.  I'm still torn up
over our daughter and don't want to go through this again.  Any
suggestions to help ease the anxiety?

Rachel
