Hi Lil General,

Occult blood in the stool can have many causes, some of them serious, many more not so serious,  You did not say why the doctor performed this test so it's a little difficult to answer your question.  Was it part of a routine physical or were you having symptoms of some kind?
Naturally the first thing people thing of is colon cancer.  Usually this disorder presents with the passage of bright red blood red blood on defecation, pain, maybe cramping and fullness in the abdomen.  Stools are grossly bloody.
You mentioned colitis.  Colitis almost always involves diarrhea, bloody diarrhea it be exact and accompanied by severe cramping and bloating of the lower abdomen.  Believe me you'd be aware of it if you have colitis.
You could have colon polyps, diverticulitis. hemorrhoids or a bleeding ulcer.  When my ulcer bleeds the only way I know is by the color of my stool, it is almost black.
Not knowing what your symptoms are exactly and know ing your age would help.  In any case your physician was correct in referring you to a gastro who will most likely order a colonoscopy ( smile and say cheese!!!)  only joking they will sedate you and you will fall asleep.  It is frightening I know but try to relax, there is every chance things will be OK.
If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to ask.
God Bless,

Nurse Jinny

Has anyone used Saw Palmetto or Lycopene for Prostrate problems or
known someone who has? Did they find it helpful? Was there any side
effects? Is it safe? I am highly considering this because of all the
problems I am having with antibiotics. Appreciate the feedback.

computer program, located here:

"Historically, experts theorized that vitamin E would increase the
effects of warfarin (Coumadin) by causing a deficiency of vitamin
K—a fat-soluble vitamin responsible for blood clotting. However,
in a recent double-blind clinical trial of 21 patients on chronic
warfarin therapy, no significant effect on prothrombin times (a test
that measures the clotting time of blood) was observed when 800-
1200mg of vitamin E per day was given. Researchers concluded that "it
appears that vitamin E can safely be given to patients who require
chronic warfarin therapy."8,26,33"

Of course, the typical physician won't hear about this research for
the next 10 to 20 years so if you ask them about taking vitamin E
with blood thinners, they will not agree for some time. It's much
like the situation with estrogen therapy. Alternative practitioners
have known about the dangers and lack of efficacy for 20 years.
Mainstream medicine has just recently caught up.

Mike if you're feeling like that I would see your doctor also. Not
just your dentist.

And try and calm down otherwise you'll end up in a panic cycle and
just feel worse and worse.

See your doc and let us know if you had any luck with your holistic
dentist. xx

Hiya agian, yeah that's right. I taste strong metal ALL the time!

And it's not 'healthy' metal taste if you know what I mean. It's a
corroding kind of taste. And boy have I been ill for some years
now. Far too ill to work. The best thing I can say it that
it 'tastes like science class' in school. lol That probably sounds
weird but I'm sure you get what I mean. It reminds me of all the
mercury and chemical smells in science class. So it probably has
gone toxic.

But I'm wondering if I've had a similar experience with contact
lenses as you. When I was 15 I tried contact lenses for the first
time and my eyes went pink too. Sort of pinky/red. I've never seen
pinkeye so I don't know what that would look like but it sounds
similar to what happened to me.

But when I tried contact lenses again years later it was 'sensitive
eyes' solution and there were no problems. I have no idea what the
saline was I used the first time round but perhaps it had a mercury
base to it too. I was told at age 15 if I carried on wearing the
lenses I could go blind. (??) They never really said why but they
were worried that capilliaries would grow over my pupil too. Very,
very odd.

But they did say they'd never seen eyes go so pink like that EVER
before. So it sounds very familiar to me.

I'll read up on the links (if I can find them, lol).

Cheers. xx Binks

ps - I had no idea it was mercury that was in silver fillings. If
I'd know that I'd have had all the fillings taken out YEARS ago.
Mercury's POISON. Are dentists totally mad??

Hi Binky, nice to meet you.  My name is Jinny, I am a nurse and a
person who has mercury allergy.
I found out quite by accident that I was allergic to mercury.  In 1974 when they first came out with soft contact lenses I got my first set.  The saline solution they made at the time was called thimerosol and it has a mercury base.  Thimerisol I later learned was the preservative used for years in vaccines including those we all received as a child.  Shortly after I got my contact lenses I developed what looked like pink eye, first mildly in one eye and eventually severely in both eyes.  For years I went from doc to doc trying to find out why this was happening to me, I only knew if MY lenses were out it improved.  Finally they came out with "Sensitive eyes" formulas of saline, which were thimerosol free.  BINGO!  Gone were the red eyes, the pain and the constant tearing.
My teeth were like yours when I first sensed something wrong, I had a funny almost metallic taste in my mouth.  If you read some of the links Russ has provided on the site you will understand a lot. I did.  I was diagnosed with the neuromuscular disease of myasthenia gravis in 2004.  I have no problem believing that the mercury in your teeth make you sick, I am a prime example.  Some people with MG I have met have had their teeth removed, some with great success and have gone into remission.
You will never find a dentist who will tell you about mercury amalgam illness.  There was a link on the site about some Congresswoman in California who was trying to bring it to the forefront but believe me healthcare is big business.
Many people have had their filling removed at replaced with porcelin I think.  It's not that mercury got into your surgical sites Bink, but mercury when it ages gives off toxic effects.  Right now I am saving to have all my teeth I have left removed, about 6 thousand.
I think you would benefit by reading up on it as much as you can on both the websites listed below.

Good luck

quantities?  Like, some things put you off because your body
automatically knows they're bad for you?

Well for years the taste of my fillings has been bothering me and
it's a constant nagging feeling in my head that they're bad.  But my
dentist, of course, said they were safe.

So now I want them out.  But what do I get put in instead of the
silver fillings?  And what is the most affordable?

By the way - when I had my wisdom teeth out I bled an awful lot and
I thought I had a constant infection making me feel so ill.  After
the teeth were out I got MORE ill, not less.

So I've been wondering if it's possible that the mercury in the
fillings somehow got directly into my blood stream with the huge
gaping holes I had from surgery.  (The surgery went a little bit
wrong and it took me three months to recover and for the gums to
close instead of three days.)

Any ideas?

Hi,

I had dental work done on 4/2 and have not felt well since. I believe
3 amalgam fillings were replaced with composites. My dentist is
holistic and said he will check me out today.

My symtpoms are:

Nervousness, anxiety, panic, rapid heart beat, legs feel weak and like
they're going to give in, arms feel weak/limp, tightness in chest,
astima, hard to sleep, dizzy, cant look at screen long, nausea, less
appitite, etc.

What canI do know to feel better? I have a family and I dont want to
lose my job.

Please help!

Tnx,

Mike

I don't have the answers for you but I am a nurse for over 16 years and I truly believe in amalgam illness.
I also suffer from the autoimmune neuromuscular disease myasthenia gravis and one of the theories a while back was it could be caused by amalgam poisoning.  I have also found out quite by accident that I am allergic to mercury as well.
I am 48 and have smoked most of my life until last January.  I would recommend you try the patches, for as long as you need them.  Get a stress ball and carry it with you and use it when your hands get antsy.  Always carry candy or gum or anything to satisfy the oral fixation for the ciggie.  I always still carry Good and Plenty.

Good luck,
Jinny

DOes anyone know for sure if this is for real or what ? And how did
you get diagnosed with this? I have had some wild stuff go on this past
year and am leaning to this but am also afraid of cancer. the stuff I
have going on though if someone had cancer of so many different parts
of thier body couldnt or shouldnt be able to even function.
Is there a test you can do for this dental amalgam deal or what? not
trying to be smart im just skeptical is all.

Smiles for Life

Who benefits?
Everyone! You save while getting a bright, new smile. The kids get
the money. Dentists take pride in knowing that the time they dedicate
will put smiles on the faces of thousands of children in need.

How do I Know that all of my money is being donated?
Crown Council dental teams donate their services, and Discus Dental
donates all of the whitening supplies. When you pay for your
whitening, you write a check to the Smiles for Life Foundation, not
to the dentist.

Call 856 - 546 0665 - www.cent4dent.com - The Centre for Dentistry at
Haddon Crown
Council dentists can give you whiter teeth!
From March 1 - June 30, you can save money and time by having a
participating Crown Council dentist professionally whiten your teeth.
With the new ZOOM! Weekender Kit, Crown Council dentists can give you
whiter teeth in just three days. When they do, 100% of the proceeds
are donated to the Smiles for Life Foundation to help children facing
serious health conditions and educational deficiencies in your
community throughout North America.

Give someone you love the luxury of a quality teeth whitening service
for just $295.00 from the participating Crown Council dentist of
their choice. And, another reason to smile - all proceeds go to the
Smiles for Life Foundation.

Outside our area, call 877 4 Smiles, or log onto
www.smilesforlife.com to find the dentist nearest you.

I just saw your post and thought I'd respond.

I believe safe removal is best because as long as the fillings are
in, they are emitting mercury. Here is a link you need to check out:

http://www.iaomt.org/merc_release.swf

My friend, Amy, had fibromyalgia and got over the symptoms of it by
removing some/most of her fillings. She is actually the person who
first brought it to my attention. See my story:

http://herballure.com/mms

Make sure you have amalgam removed from a dentist specially trained
in removal because you can be exposed to large amounts of mercury if
special safety precautions are not taken.

My name is Shi. I have had fibro/cfids since 1986. I have learned
many ways to deal with fibro and its like a full time job! I am
doing a lot better than in the beginning but still have my bad days.
Most of them are days I did something knowing I was going to end up
hurting buy did it anyway! :>) Is stupidity a fibro symptom? :>) I
do a lot of educational things. Have you heard of the "Million
Letter Campaign"? Check it out at :

Just a note to let you know that I've posted a new story by Chuck
Balzer of Lincroft, New Jersey. You can find it in the "Files"
section.

It contains some excellent information about mercury and how the U.S.
Government and "world" organizations have failed to regulate it's use.

Check it out!

This is absolutely the best book I've found about mercury poisoning.
I keep one on my desk while helping other people. It's excellent:

In July of 2000, I had all my mercury-amalgam fillings removed and my
life changed dramatically. All of my 17+ ailments were gone shortly
thereafter.

Check out a detailed account of my story here:
