Detoxing Mercury

Hi Betsy,

I've inserted answers/comments to your questions/statements in the
text below. I hope they help someone.

ALA is generally for detoxing the brain as it crosses the blood-brain
barrier. I would make sure that it is not taken until after amalgams
have been removed and after the lower body has been detoxed first.

ALA is good for mercury detox but many people get sick on it if it's
taken too early in the detox process.

Here is an info sheet:

Whoops. I guess you already said what I just wrote. Sorry.

Chlorella contains sulphur and methionine.

Sulphur is the key to detoxing mercury but chlorella is not the only
source. Sun (brand) Chlorella is what I personally used to detox.
Sulphur actually pulls mercury out of body tissue and into the blood
where it can be removed by the liver. Other sources of sulphur are MSM
and garlic.

Methionine is a precursor to glutathione which is the body's natural
defense against mercury and other toxins. Ironically, glutathione
production is decreased in the presence of mercury because mercury
inhibits the methylation of B-12 which precedes glutathione
production. The inhibition of the methylation of B-12 also results in
increased homocysteine which leads to high cholesterol (LDL) and
atherosclerosis. Homocysteine can be controlled with premethylated
B-12 or B-9 (folic acid).

So, the bottom line here is that chlorella is a great source of
sulphur for those who can tolerate it (about 1 in 10 people cannot).
It will make you feel worse as will anything that mobilizes mercury
because some of the mercury bonds will break and allow some mercury to
be redistributed. This is why it's important to detox carefully and at
a rate that you can tolerate.

Taking Algin is (in my opinion) the single most important supplement
to take during detox because 90% of blood-mercury it removed by the
liver and thrown into the intestines which quickly reabsorbs it. Algin
binds to the mercury in the intestines (it's a non-digestiable
polysaccharide) and prevents this reabsorption cycle. It can also be
taken while amalgam are still present, which is fantastic.

In our experience 6 of 10 people experience "amazing" results (relief
of symptoms) with Algin. About 3 of 10 experience a small
"difference". About 1 in 10 get gas, which is probably related to
mercury's interference with intestinal flora which may be a symptom
indicating a need for probiotics.

Selenium chelates (binds to) mercury and can therefore mobilize it (mercury) in the body of a mercury toxic person. When mercury is mobilized (moves around) in...

I had my amalgams removed about 6 years ago. No special care was taken. Does this increase or decrease my chances of mercury toxicity?...

It definitely increases your exposure to mercury if no precautions were taken to protect you during amalgam removal. The dentist should have used a rubber dam...

I'm doing research to see about doing detox. Is this easy to accomplish without DMPS? By using Chlorella, cilantro and MSM + the right diet?...
