Hi Binky, nice to meet you. My name is Jinny, I am a nurse and a
person who has mercury allergy.
I found out quite by accident that I was allergic to mercury. In 1974 when they first came out with soft contact lenses I got my first set. The saline solution they made at the time was called thimerosol and it has a mercury base. Thimerisol I later learned was the preservative used for years in vaccines including those we all received as a child. Shortly after I got my contact lenses I developed what looked like pink eye, first mildly in one eye and eventually severely in both eyes. For years I went from doc to doc trying to find out why this was happening to me, I only knew if MY lenses were out it improved. Finally they came out with "Sensitive eyes" formulas of saline, which were thimerosol free. BINGO! Gone were the red eyes, the pain and the constant tearing.
My teeth were like yours when I first sensed something wrong, I had a funny almost metallic taste in my mouth. If you read some of the links Russ has provided on the site you will understand a lot. I did. I was diagnosed with the neuromuscular disease of myasthenia gravis in 2004. I have no problem believing that the mercury in your teeth make you sick, I am a prime example. Some people with MG I have met have had their teeth removed, some with great success and have gone into remission.
You will never find a dentist who will tell you about mercury amalgam illness. There was a link on the site about some Congresswoman in California who was trying to bring it to the forefront but believe me healthcare is big business.
Many people have had their filling removed at replaced with porcelin I think. It's not that mercury got into your surgical sites Bink, but mercury when it ages gives off toxic effects. Right now I am saving to have all my teeth I have left removed, about 6 thousand.
I think you would benefit by reading up on it as much as you can on both the websites listed below.
Good luck

quantities? Like, some things put you off because your body automatically knows they're bad for you? Well for years the taste of my fillings has been bothering me and it's a constant nagging feeling in my head that they're bad. But my dentist, of course, said they were safe. So now I want them out. But what do I get put in instead of the silver fillings? And what is the most affordable? By the way - when I had my wisdom teeth out I bled an awful lot and I thought I had a constant infection making me feel so ill. After the teeth were out I got MORE ill, not less. So I've been wondering if it's possible that the mercury in the fillings somehow got directly into my blood stream with the huge gaping holes I had from surgery. (The surgery went a little bit wrong and it took me three months to recover and for the gums to close instead of three days.) Any ideas? Thanks for reading this. xx Binky Other Resources: amalgamillness.com mercurytalk.com | |||
