Description

This mailing list is related to ash-l, but with RESTRICTED MEMBERSHIP TO KNOWN ASHers ONLY. This IS NOT an open list.

Due to the huge number of predatory kooks, voyeurs, stalkers and trolls operating on Usenet's alt.suicide.holiday, this list has a strict vetting process.

ALL new applicants are required to provide examples of past Usenet posting history, IRC history, etc, or the name or nym of a referee. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Those who cannot abide by this simple requirement will be assumed to be voyeurs and blacklisted.

In brief: if you are not an established ASHer, DO NOT APPLY HERE.

If you are a non-ASHer looking for a more traditional support group, please check out http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/suicide4/

Journalists may contact the list owner for information, as you will not be granted access to the group.

If you are an ASHer, you already *know* the tenets of ASH, which is quite basically accepting a pro-CHOICE stance on suicide. We do not encourage or incite anyone to take their lives as this is against the basic tenet of ASH. ASHers accept that feeling suicidal is a natural part of ourselves, and we find comfort in discussing our feelings with others who understand this concept. ASHers accept that while we are free to talk about our suicidal feelings in safety, we know we are less likely to act on those feelings. Discussing these feelings empowers us, and allows us to interact with other people which would otherwise be denied to us by limiting our self-espression of these feelings.

Posts will not be tolerated that incite or promote suicide, harasses another, or violate basic netiquette. On-list attacks will not be tolerated; calm discussion of differences are appropriate.

Any problems with posts, posters or the list itself should be sent to alt-suicide-holiday-owner@yahoogroups.com
